You can claim compensation if your car is damaged after going over a pothole or it is wrecked by fallen trees following a thunderstorm.
That is if the incident happens in public premises in Petaling Jaya.
Petaling Jaya City Council has bought a Public Liability Insurance Policy from PNSB Insurance Brokers Sdn Bhd that covers in addition to physical damage, theft of personal items from the city council’s premises as well as any accident that might occur while ratepayers use the facilities on the council’s premises.
The public can also file claims if they are injured in the process.
Petaling Jaya mayor Datuk Mohamad Roslan Sakiman said the insurance had specific compensation that the claimant would receive in the event of structural damage, damage to vehicles or injury.
“Compensation could be reimbursement for vehicle repairs or medical bills due to injury suffered,” he said.
A tree planted by the PJ City Council that falls on a house is also justifiable cause to claim for compensation.
