Traffic heavy on KL-bound routes

KUALA LUMPUR: The past week of sparse traffic in the city is now over as holiday revellers make their way back.

Traffic was reported to be heavy and slow on the North-South Expressway (PLUS) heading towards Kuala Lumpur.

At 4.30pm, traffic from Seremban to Nilai was reported to be congested. The road from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) to Kajang was at a crawl as a result of a downpour.

A PLUS spokesman said south-bound traffic from the north was also slow moving at the Menora Tunnel.

"We expect the situation to get worse as many more vehicles will be heading from Penang to Kuala Lumpur later," he said.

In the south, he said, traffic flow was normal from Johor Baru to Ayer Keroh.

Meanwhile, a spokesman at Kuala Lumpur City Hall's flood operations room said no flash floods occurred in the city despite the hour-long downpour this afternoon.
